Spring Crappie Fest

The AZCA Spring Crappie Fest (SCF) is set! The tournament will be held at Alamo Lake State Park and will payout the top 3 weights, and the biggest crappie. The SCF is open to the public, including AZCA members and non-members. The SCF will include a crappie fishing tournament, raffle, club meeting (open to the public), and a big ol’ fish fry potluck dinner.

Tournament Rules

Alamo Lake State Park
Check-In: 5:45 AM to 6:15 AM
Weigh-In: 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM
Cost: $75/boat
Heaviest bag of 7 Crappie per team wins (Min 10″)
Hook and line, live bait and trolling are permitted
4-pole limit per team
This event does not include parking or camping fees
Livewells will be checked prior to launching

AZCA Meeting

The meeting starts around 3:15pm, after the weighin. The meeting is open for members and non-members. This is an opportunity for AZCA members to vote where the next meeting will be held and other club decisions. For non-members, this is an opportunity to learn about the AZCA, and if interested in joining, you can be voted in to become a member. See the FAQ for more details about becoming a member.

Raffle

At the Alamo Lake Group Campground, the raffle with start at 4:00 PM after awards and the open club meeting. The club has supplied many great prizes to be raffled off, so be sure to bring some cash! Tickets will be available to purchase after the weigh-in after the open club meeting.

Raffle ticket cost:

$10 for 1 ticket
$50 for 7 tickets
$100 for 15 tickets

Fish Fry

The Fish Fry is a staple to all the AZCA tournaments and big events, and this year it’s no different! The fish fry/potluck is open to all friends and family of club members and tournament participants. If you intend on staying for the fish fry, please bring a side, a desert, or donate your catch to the potluck!

It will start at 6:00 PM at the Alamo Lake Group Campground.

Camping

The AZCA has reserved the large group site from Wednesday April 3rd through Sunday April 7th. Every vehicle will need a pass, which can be obtained by checking in the Alamo Lake Store upon your arrival. You will need to pay $15/day you are camping. AZCA paid members will have 2 nights payment reiumbursed. If you prefer to camp in your own campsite, you may reserve through the state park website.

2024 Tournament Winners

First Place

Team Crappietiers (Florin Nesiu, Andrew Nesiu) took 1st place ($300) with total weight (7 crappie) of 14.10 lbs.

Second Place

Team 2 1/2 Snipers (Randy Howton, Brock Howton, and Matthew Picklesimer) took 2nd place ($180) with total weight of 11.62 lbs.

Third Place

Team MartyCameron (Marty & Cameron Gilliam) placed 3rd with total weight of 11.48 lbs.

"Wild Willie" biggest crappie

Team Crappietiers also won the “Wild Willie” biggest crappie ($300) at 2.43 lbs.
