SPRING CRAPPIE FEST

The AZCA Spring Crappie Fest (SCF) is set! The tournament will be held at Alamo Lake State Park and will payout the top 3 weights, and the biggest crappie. The SCF is open to the public, including AZCA members and non-members. The SCF will include a crappie fishing tournament, raffle, club meeting (open to the public), and a big ol’ fish fry potluck dinner.  At this year’s SCF, you’ll also have the option to enter the Let’s Talk Fishin’ (LTF) crappie tournament if you want.  Please see this note from the tournament director for full details.

Tournament Rules

  • See this note from the tournament director
  • Check-In: 4:30 AM (Group Camp 1 Area; LTF will take AZCA entrants regardless if they enter LTF or just AZCA tournament)
  • End Time: 2:30pm (Inside Cholla ramp buoys)
  • Weigh-In: 3:00 PM (Group Camp 1 Area; LTF will weigh-in both AZCA and LTF entrants).  Weigh-in scales will be open as early as 2:00 PM.
  • Cost: $75/boat
  • Heaviest bag of 7 Crappie per team wins (Min 10″)
  • Hook and line, live bait and trolling are permitted
  • 4-pole limit per team
  • This event does not include parking or camping fees
  • Livewells will be checked prior to launching

AZCA Meeting

The open meeting starts around 3:30pm, immediately after the weigh-in and will be held at the Group Camp Area 1.  The meeting typically lasts 15 minutes. The meeting is open for members and non-members. This is an opportunity for AZCA members to vote when and where the next SCF be held and other club decisions.  For non-members, this is an opportunity to learn about the AZCA, and if interested in joining, you can be voted in to become a member.  See the FAQ for more details about becoming a member.

Raffle

The raffle with start around 3:45 PM immediately after the AZCA meeting, and also will be held at the Group Camp Area 1. The club has supplied many great prizes to be raffled off, so be sure to bring some cash! Tickets will be available to purchase after the weigh-in after the open club meeting.

Raffle ticket cost:

  • $10 for 1 ticket
  • $50 for 7 tickets
  • $100 for 15 tickets

Fish Fry

The Fish Fry is a staple to all the AZCA tournaments and big events, and this year it’s no different! The fish fry/potluck is open to all friends and family of club members and tournament participants. If you intend on staying for the fish fry, please bring a side, a desert, or donate your catch to the potluck!
 
It will start at 6:00 PM at the Alamo Lake Group Campground.

Camping

The AZCA has reserved the large group site from Wednesday March 25th through Sunday, March 29th. Every vehicle will need a pass, which can be obtained by checking in the Alamo Lake Store upon your arrival. You will need to pay $25/day you are camping. AZCA paid members will have 1 night paid so mention your name when you go to the store if you are a member. If you prefer to camp in your own campsite, you may reserve through the state park website.

First Place

Team AZ Crappie Sniper — Randy Howton (Slipbobber72) and his son Brock (Little Sniper) weighed in the max of 7 crappie for a total weight of 10.19lbs. They also weighed in the biggest crappie at 1.74lbs, awarding them the Wild Willie Biggest Crappie trophy

Second Place

Team Crappie Whisperer (Cameron Gilliam & Chad Knutson) with a total weight of 8.46lbs.

Third Place

Team C4L #crappie_for_life (Eric Minar & JT Butler) weighed in 8.40lbs.
